PALSAR-2_L2.2
- SAR
Data observed by PALSAR-2, an L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) on board “Daichi-2 (ALOS-2)” developed by JAXA.
SAR can capture images under the same conditions as it observes the reflections of the radio waves emitted by itself. It actively emits radio waves, allowing it to observe the Earth’s surface without being limited by day or night conditions. Furthermore, since radio waves can penetrate clouds, surface observations are possible even in areas with cloud cover.

Notes | - ScanSAR is wide-area observation data of 350 to 490 km swath with a resolution of 60 m. - L2.2 product is a backscatter coefficient product with orthorectification and radiometric terrain correction. - In October 2024, JAXA released an updated version of the processing software for CEOS-ARD (Orthorectification and Radiometric Terrain Correction products) for ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 ScanSAR. The data using the updated product has been registered in Tellus since the July 2024 observation. Tellus does not plan to register the updates with the new product before July 2024 observation.
